i met with tammy this mornign at the dw diner for breakfast. our sons go to preschool together and she has suggested going out several times before. this time i stepper up and went out. i tried an old anxiety tamer trick to relax--just pretend nothing will happen and leave five minutes early. it worked.
we chatted and had a nice breakfast, but i felt disconnected. ordinary. i like her. she is one of those nice girls who does not care if you are quirky. i could see her giving the finger to other girls who laughed because i sat with her at the afeteria. Cool, girl. resiliant and liked by everyone. but i would't have gone to the river with her to throw stones or drank stoeln wine with her in the ditch behind school.
